For the record, I didn’t just stop weighing in willy-nilly. (Sidebar: having never typed “willy-nilly” before, it feels a little weird.) After August, I made a conscious decision to hold off publicly weighing in until October while I tweaked some things. Now it’s October, so…
I’ve done a pretty consistent job of working out, though my food efforts have been abysmal. And a note about my previous “destroying my knees at the gym" comment: I stopped doing that. After some experimentation (running and lifting, just running, only lifting), I found out it’s the running that makes me sound like a mutant old man baby when confronted with stairs. So I stopped running, and I’ve never been happier. My knees still hurt sometimes, but mostly it only happens when I go too long between lifting sessions, and never to the extent as before. Win.
I need to get some momentum going in October (before ham and potato season that is the holidays kicks into full swing) so if you see me with candy, feel free to verbally berate me.
I went rafting for a week, weighed in with a big (unexpected) drop, and then rebounded hard upon resuming a desk job (220.5 last week, which I just plain forgot to print). I’m a pound down from that today (but up two since my last official posting), and I’m just as surprised about it as I was post-river trip due to all the candy I’ve eaten in the last week.
The good news: I’m still down over 20 pounds since the end of April. Onward.
