A little over a week ago, I had the privilege of attending the wedding of Dan & Betsy down in the Phoenix area.
Dan I and were childhood friends back on the east coast, but you know how these things go—someone moves away, people grow up, have careers, etc. About six years ago, out of the blue, Dan found me via the internets and drove up from the Phoenix area for lunch. He and Betsy have been a de facto uncle and aunt to the kids ever since; if they’re in the area, they kindly make the extra effort to cover the miles to our neck of the woods for a visit and a meal. So when I get an invite to attend their wedding on their home turf, how could I say no?
The ceremony was great: simple, quick, and lovely. It was obvious to anyone there that these two are the best of friends, madly in love, and happy to be getting hitched. And it didn’t hurt at all that the Phoenix weather chose to cooperate with blue sunny skies and warm—but not too warm—weather.
In an attempt to not be too obnoxious, the photos I took of their ceremony were taken guerrilla-style, a la Auntie Nettie (which should explain the funky angles and half-blinks). To keep it simple, they’ve been amassed into the video above, replete with authentic Official Dan & Betsy Wedding Music™ (really, would they have it any other way?).
Dan and Betsy, thanks for the invite for making me part of your day. And enjoy Greece. Mazel tov!
