Apple's Leadership Zen
Jeff Yang, in a great article dissecting how Apple “out-Sony’d Sony,” hits on an important leadership concept (that I quite selfishly want to remember). Jobs’s immersion in Zen and passion for design almost certainly exposed him to the concept of ma, a central pillar of traditional Japanese aesthetics. Like many idioms relating to the intimate aspects of how a culture...

randallb: “[Speaking about members of the LDS Church to their leaders, James E. Faust said…] “They will treat you very kindly. They will say nice things about you.” He laughed a little and then said, “Dieter, be thankful for this. But don’t you ever inhale it.” That is a good lesson for us all, brethren, in any calling or life situation. We can be grateful for our health, wealth, possessions, or...

Venue?
OK Utah people, I need some advice. I have a chance to maybe go see Guster next Saturday. But they’re playing in SLC at the Venue, or In the Venue, or something like that. The interwebs tell me the place used to be called “Bricks nightclub” if that helps. Oh, and that it’s a nasty hole that’s too many people in a small space, too loud, and overall just terrible. So...
